another day, another cast.

I woke up Sat am to discover I had cracked my cast on the outside- no idea how, but I didn't sleep well that night. After a few phone calls this morning, I trrrekked up to the hospital and saw the surgeon in clinic. He assured me I had made the right call and an orderly cut the old cast off. The first look at my right arm was cool-I won't get too gross- the incision is clean and healing well, I have feeling near the site and distal (further from the heart) so the team put on a new slab cast (open along the top of the arm-which is bent at 90 degrees) . I wear this one for one more week- they do this becaues of swelling- then on Monday the 21st, I am immobilized in a full cast for three weeks- the staples(9) come out at that time as well. And then, when THAT cast comes off, I start to regain my range of motion and finally strength-building with Physio. Was told that ,technically speaking, I am not supposed to do things like DRIVE A CAR(whoops- who knew?) so I will have time on my hands-er- I mean ...hand.
